Karen Gillan talking Community's Inspector Spacetime! It would be brilliant if this was somehow feasible to get her on in a cameo role, or any of them really.
They've had bigger-name guest actors to be honest, so it's not completely implausible. I also agree that would be awesome. #observationdeck(Edit comment)
Saw this earlier today. I'm thinking quick cameo on an episode clip of Inspector Spacetime that Troy & Abed are watching, or a bigger cameo in the Dreamatorium. maybe she's the REAL Geneva! #observationdeck(Edit comment)
Someone on youtube mentioned that she had a habit of not looking directly at the interviewer while talking. I didn't believe it then I watched her other interviews. She tends to stare at the floor while she talks.
But it does seem oddly like she's cue-carding. Dammit! Don't take away the magic!
.... and for folks who are still excited for the new Spiderman, and don't mind seeing most of the movie before it actually premiers, here's a 4 minute sneak peek trailer of some stuff happening. I believe it involves webs, webslinging, and possibly some witty one liners. Still not onboard this reboot, even with added Wub Wub.
See, on the other hand, I'm really looking forward to seeing this. Love me some spider-man, and I have a man-crush on Andrew Garfield's hair, so I'm already sold.
I would agree that it feels like they've shown too much of the movie in the trailers though. Maybe it will pull an Avengers and what we think are all the big setpieces have been shown off in the trailers, but there's more to it? I'd hope so. #observationdeck
Dark Shadows pulled that same old tired trick and showed all the best parts in the trailer. On the other hand, the Avengers didn't. However, the people behind Spiderman seem to be (somewhat unsuccessfully) drumming up excitement and all of these clips and footage that they are throwing out gives the feeling of desperation and I am starting to suspect the good footage is being shown in the trailers to try to draw people in. #observationdeck(Edit comment)
You're not the only one that feels that way. Spidey has been tracking extremely soft in the last month, and the blowout success of Avengers didn't do it any favors. Sony can't afford another under-performer after the horrible year they've had, so the suits are scrambling to drum up excitement.
While it will hardly bomb, I'm continuing my prediction that it will be the lowest opening and lowest performing of the recent Spidey films, and am now going so far as to say it will probably do better overseas than domestically. #observationdeck
That could be why I'm not really onboard for this one: Garfield does absolutely nothing for me, whereas I've had a bro-mance for Maguire since Pleasantville. That, plus the bad taste in my mouth left by Spidey 3 still lingers, and this reboot just came too soon. #observationdeck(Edit comment)
I completely agree with everything you just said. I don't think it will do Green Lantern or John Carter bad, but I definitely think it will play much better overseas than it will over here mostly due to the bad taste that Spidey 3 left in people's mouths. I think it will take the #1 spot on that weekend (it is July 4th weekend and with little other competition aside from GI Joe holdover), but it won't break any records.
I kind of have the same feeling about Man of Steel as well due to the poor performance and reception of Superman Returns and Zach Snyder's last movie Sucker Punch, but too early to tell on that one.
The general audience doesn't seem much to care much if it is a reboot or not (X-Men are X-Men, Spiderman is Spiderman, Superman is Superman, etc - with the exception of Batman).
The TARDIS made an appearance on the Late Late show. Craig traveled to Scotland with it. It's going to be an amazing week. #observationdeck #tips(Edit comment)
Awwww, man! Been waiting for this almost as hard as The Avengers! So cool how Craig remembered that Ariel Tweto had said last year that she wanted to go to Scotland, and brought her along. #observationdeck(Edit comment)

Yeah, if you notice her face looks different and you want to snark about needless plastic surgery--don't. It got messed up in a bad car accident some years ago. #observationdeck(Edit comment)
"According to an article in the New York Post, McGowan suffered serious injuries in a car accident early in 2007. Riding as a passenger, her car was struck by another vehicle and the force of the impact drove her eyeglasses into her face. McGowan is quoted as saying, "I didn't realize I was hurt until I put my hand to my face and felt the flap of skin. My glasses had sliced me under my eye." After obtaining the services of a plastic surgeon, McGowan is reported to be suffering no long-lasting consequences from the incident"Wikipedia.
I heard they were still trying for it, but I am not sure. #observationdeck
I make a difference between someone's art production and someone's personal opinion.
James Elroy is a racist misogynist asshole. He still writes really good books.
So I will see a movie with Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, and all other crazies out there. I might not want to meet them, or talk to them, or be in the same room as them, but I can watch their artistic production. They are payed that I see the movie or not anyway, so I don't see how me not watching the movie helps anyone.
And knowing the type of movie, Mel will probably be poking fun at his personal failings. #observationdeck
>They are payed that I see the movie or not anyway,
But you're investing in their futures, since you're keeping them a viable name in the market. If suddenly no one saw the film they had now, they're less likely to get paid (as much) for their next movie. #observationdeck
So, if I disagree with someone's opinion, I should make sure they lose their job and prevent them from getting another one? Should I also ensure they lose all the money they have, and their home too?
Being a racist asshole doesn't mean you can,t do your job well. I can hate you as a person, but if you do your job well, I have no right and no reason to remove that job from you. #observationdeck
I'm remarking on the reality behind your "helps anyone" comment and nothing else. I'm not telling you what you should do, just that your implication that you aren't contributing to their coffers is false. Whether or not you want to pay for their kids' university degrees is up to you. #observationdeck(Edit comment)
I really want to see this with Supernatural's Loki. You know he didn't have a natural birth. Way too vain about his figure snapping. And never mind the bottle-feeding and attachment parenting questions--how do you get one of those into Baby Bjorn? #observationdeck(Edit comment)
Looks like down thread there aren't many takers, but I'm excited for it! I'm down with giving JJ another chance! I still like Fringe, didn't take to Alcatraz (sorry).... #observationdeck(Edit comment)
Trailers for NBC's shows next season. Revolution looks mediocre, at best, IMO. Gorgeous environments, though.
I was looking forward to Do No Harm until the trailer... now it just looks boring. I probably shouldn't judge it just based on a minute or two, but it didn't grab me. Chicago Fire could be good. Animal Practice looks like another comedy critical darling that will be overlooked by the public.
Beyond that, it's easy to see why NBC has shitty ratings.
No disrespect, but I'm going to link wherever the news is. Deadline has the trailers spread across numerous posts. It's easier to link to THR in this case. #observationdeck(Edit comment)
NBC is kinda like the Blanche DuBois of TV networks. Once they were young and pretty and everyone wanted to take them to the ball, now they're older, penniless, stuck living with their brutish in-laws in a crummy efficiency apartment in the Marigny, and completely incapable of living in the present. If you don't look out, they're gonna try and seduce the paperboy out of loneliness and desperation. #observationdeck(Edit comment)
London gets some serious terrorist threats. I don't see this technology as inherently bad - it's good there's some non-lethal stuff out there these days. Unfortunately, the London Police showed they needed some remedial training in how not to beat people up a couple years back... it's not really an issue of having stuff like this, it seems an issue of who they're giving control of it to. #observationdeck(Edit comment)
To be honest, I think the London authorities are trotting out this stuff now (like the missiles on the apartment building) as a deterrent to terrorists and organized protestors so they don't have to use them.
From the article it sounds like the Royal Marines are operating the LRAD. #observationdeck
Barnes and Noble is running Soulless, book 1 of the Parasol Protectorate, as a 99¢ e-book this month. I've been disappointed with most of the steampunk I've read so I can't decide if I want to spend the (tiny bit of) money for this one.
It's a very good series. I just recently bought the latest book... it is, mind you, very much a romance in a lot of ways. But there's loads of adventure. #observationdeck(Edit comment)
I really liked it. Not the kind of book I usually go for, but I have read the whole series now and was sad when it ended. Go for it. Hard to beat 99 cents
I actually picked up the first 3 on a Nook deal too.
From George R R Martin's blog: "I finished and delivered my script for season three of GAME OF THRONES. It's episode 307, with the working title "Autumn Storms." David and Dan seem to like it. Casting is in full swing for the new season, so I'm watching auditions every night. Froggy may be turning up soon, but don't hold your breath. I'm too busy to devote much time to whipping up obscure clues."
No kidding. Feast and Dragons run concurrently and maybe they could squeeze 15 episodes out of them but a whole lotta nothing is gonna happen those seasons. (and wouldn't that suck.)
Unless they're going to pull a walking dead and have the tv show depart from the books. #observationdeck
Oh, I think you could boil both books down to one 10 episode season if you had to be ruthless. Most of the really important stuff in Feast would fit into two or three episodes. The rest was just filler.
Given the way Benioff and Weiss work, I'm sure the season would be chronological, with the relevant events from Feast edited into the larger, more eventful narrative flow of Dances. Certainly it'd be a lot less confusing than the way the books are structured.
The real question is whether Storm of Swords is going to be one season or two. This approach seems as much an effort to give the story breathing room as it is a means of giving Martin another year to get Winds of Winter into shape for publication.
SO glad Cult was picked up. With that, the Hannibal-series (which I'm getting psyched for, with Bryan Fuller at the helm), Mockingbird Lane, etc, etc, this fall season looks to be pretty damn good. Especially with Community, Fringe, Castle, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries coming back, and it looks like they'll be firing on all cylinders. The set-ups for the next seasons have been pretty great. #observationdeck(Edit comment)
Just saw some big news for the private sector in space. It looks like SpaceX and Bigelow Aerospace have entered an agreement with SpaceX using its Falcon 9 and Dragon spacecrafts to take crews to Bigelow's BA 330 space stations (once they get up there). [www.spacex.com]
Now, for the more important question: When will they finally launch the Dragon for the meetup with the ISS? It looks like it's been put on delay again, this time for May 19th with a backup on the 22nd.
Let me be completely vapid right now, because they''re reminding me of henchmen from a cartoon from a couple years ago. The were that basic shape, but stood upright. They were yellow, with blue goggles. Making sense? Couldn't tell you who produced it, but it seemed to be cute. And someone was trying to take over the world. #observationdeck(Edit comment)
Last thing I heard, Bigelow habs were basically on indefinite hold due to the fact that there would be no way to get to them, other than Soyuz I guess. Falcon/Dragon was the obvious answer, so it's good to see that intention.
I wonder when we'll see the first manned Falcon/Dragon flight. #observationdeck
They're supposed to be taking supplies to the International Space Station. They originally had it scheduled for the end of April, and then rescheduled to May 7th. Now the plan is for the 19th. I believe if all goes good, then it will be Falcon/Dragon that takes supplies to the ISS for the foreseeable future. At least until NASA starts sending stuff up again. #observationdeck(Edit comment)
Oh, wow, I guess you're right. It's just a resupply. I assumed there'd be some astronauts. It looks like they're just doing this to fulfill their Commercial Resupply Services contract with NASA. I guess it never said anything about being manned. That makes me sad-face. [www.spacex.com]

"Sonic device deployed in London during Olympics" [www.bbc.co.uk]
The Ministry of Defence has confirmed a sonic device will be deployed in London during the Olympics.
The American-made Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD) can be used to send verbal warnings over a long distance or emit a beam of pain-inducing tones.
But don't worry. It's only being deployed for use "primarily" as a loud long range public address system.
